MY KIND OF RAINY DAY written in 2012

"As you can imagine, it was raining... It was my sophomore year in university and at that time I was studying at CU Boulder. I had just arrived for my 8:00am philosophy class. I was tired but my mind was racing and I had to get some words on paper. I know what you're thinking...writing music in class? Really? I enjoyed philosophy class; honestly, it got me thinking deeply about so many topics, and sometimes those topics lead me to write deep thoughts. I wrote the first verse in class; about wanting to be back in bed, where it was relaxing and warm. After class, I tried to unlock my bicycle but the lock was stuck; I felt very frustrated as I was being poured on by rain. That is when it hit me. Looking for light in dark situations is what keeps me feeling upbeat. This could be my light. I took off my hat, and looked straight up, soaking up the rain, and it felt so good. I wanted to dance. I immediately ran into the library, which happened to be right next to my previous class in the humanities building. I took the first seat I could find, and immediately began writing the chorus. Enjoying whatever life throws at you; that is MY kind of rainy day! Since I felt like dancing in the rain, I decided it would have an upbeat dance sound. Some of the lyrics are based on real life experiences like kissing in the rain; it IS romantic, not just a movie fantasy. Had to throw that in there. I still enjoy listening to this song when a dark rainstorm hits and I want to feel better. A great way to switch your mindset from negative to positive. This is especially true for me when I am sitting in traffic surrounded by pouring rain. I hope you feel the same and enjoy this song!" - Carolyn Rose
